About the Event

Monica Pierre is a three-time Suncoast Regional Emmy® award-winning

journalist, celebrated for her impactful work in multimedia storytelling. Her most

recent Emmy® was awarded for her role as a co-executive producer of the

documentary 'Battlegrounds: The Lost Community of Fazendeville. Pierre was

recently awarded an Alex Trebek Legacy Fellowship, named in honor of the late

Alex Trebek, longtime host of the quiz show Jeopardy! As a fellow, Pierre attended

the Television Academy Foundation’s 2023 Media Educators Conference in Los

Angeles.

 

Currently, Monica serves as Assistant Professor of Practice in the Department of

Mass Communication at Xavier University in New Orleans. In this role, she

imparts her extensive knowledge and experience to aspiring multimedia

professionals, teaching courses in podcasting, broadcast announcing, writing and

storytelling.

 

Monica was one-half of the #1 radio show, C. J. Morgan & Company on WQUE

Q93 FM. For more than 15-years, Monica and C. J. were the voices of New

Orleans. Monica also used the airways to provide motivation and inspiration with

her popular segment, “Monica’s Motivational Moments.” She is author of the

motivational books, Found My Soul in a Sweet Potato Patch: Living a Life of

Victory, and No Permanent Scars: It’s Never Too Late to Live the Life You Want.

 

Further extending her passion for narrative crafting, Monica founded The Story

Maker Academy. Through this six-month program, she teaches leaders and

entrepreneurs how to discover, develop, and deliver compelling stories for

influence, impact, and inspiration. Her expertise also shines through in her role as

the host of The Powerhouse Woman Show, where she interviews women

entrepreneurs, executives and thought leaders.

 

With a rich background as a veteran reporter and talk show host, Monica has

conducted thousands of interviews with people from all walks of life. Her career

stands as a testament to her belief in the power and necessity of diverse

storytelling, affirming that there is ample space for every story to be told, shared,

and valued.
